MARCH 2005

The process has begun to select the best eleven players that Bundoora has ever put on a field, these players will be condsidered the Bundoora Cricket Club First XI.

A selection panel of seven Bundoora greats has been assembled to pick the side, they are;  Col Dyson, Laurie Dyson, Trevor Ibbott, Ian Wheeler, David Moore, Mark Maxwell and Paul Reid.  All of these former players have spent well over thirty years at the club and are Life Members, all well credentialed for the job.

They will be meeting over the winter to establish a criteria and select the team, the team will be announced at a gala dinner which will also mark and celebrate the 20th aniversary of the unprecidented A,B,C,D grade premierships from the 1985/6 season.

This is something that is sure to cause debate, keep an eye on this webpage for updates.

AUGUST 2005

Well the squad has now been picked, narrowed down from every player to play a 1st XI game at Bundoora, through an eligability criteria, and now down to 29 squad members.  The final team, including a 12th Man will be announced on Saturday November 26th at a Gala Dinner at our newly renovated clubrooms.  Tickets for this event will be available from September 1st, they will be extremely limited.

On this evening we will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of our first 'A' grade premiership in 1975/6 and the 20th anniversary of our unequalled 'A,B,C,D' grade premierships in 1985/6.

It promises to be a memorable night.

NOVEMBER 2005

Club greats were honoured on Saturday night (26th) at the Bundoora Cricket Club 1st XI & Premiership Reunion Dinner.  Team nominations and other past players were introduced to the club faithful on what may well have been the biggest night of celebration in the clubs history.

The selection committee under the guidance of Chairman David Moore provided a great base squad from which the final team was picked, a squad full of champions.  The squad was introduced by former players Lance Deacon and Ian 'sneaky' Benstead.

The night was also about celebrating our great successes, Gary McGinty and Bill Johnson reminded everybody what a great team our first premiership side (1975/6) were, five members from that team being nominated for the 1st XI.

The 1985/6 boys (Mark Maxwell, Tevor Ibbott, Shane Dyson & Wayne Sinclair) talked us through the great names and performances of our record breaking 'A,B,C,D' grade premierships, including two premierships against the old rivals Riverside.

Formalities finished just before midnight with selector Ian Wheeler announcing the Bundoora Cricket Club 1st XI 1956 - 2005.  For the record, if this team were to take the field and preform in line with their averages, batting first Bundoora would make 310, and with each of the bowlers taking two wickets would bowl the opposition out for exactly 155.
